Description: Dr. Freddie H. Fu was invited to give the Richard B. Caspari Lecture on “Anatomic ACL Reconstruction – What I have learned” in front of faculty and residents at Virginia Commonwealth University. Richard B. Caspari, MD (1942-2000) was a well-known orthopaedic surgeon who practiced in Richmond, Virginia and held numerous patents for medical devices that advanced the specialty of arthroscopic surgery. His inventions included leg holders, shoulder traction devices, suture punctures, and auger bit motorized cutters.

In 1981 he joined the Arthroscopy Association of North America and served on the Board of Directors and also as chairman of the Journal Board of Trustees before he was elected President, serving in that office from 1990 to 1991. During his tenure, the Arthroscopy Association moved toward financial stability, due in large part to his efforts. His legacy is honored with the Richard B. Caspari lecture and the Richard B. Caspari Award.
