Dr. Freddie H. Fu was the Presidential Guest Speaker on June 11-12 at the 2009 China Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Conference. He was invited by Prof. Guoping Li, chief medical officer of the Chinese Olympic Committee, and lectured on "Anatomic ACL Reconstruction" and "50 Years of Cartilage Research in Pittsburgh". James H-C. Wang, Director of our Mechanobiology Laboratory, also attended the conference. Previous to his appointment in our Department Dr. Wang was mentored in China by Dr. Li. Dr. Li has also been a visitor to our Department here in Pittsburgh.
An Honorary Professorship from Qingdao University was presented to Dr. Fu for visiting fellow education at the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine; and, to promote future collaborations with the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine, the Affiliated Municipal Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College, the official hospital of Chinese Olympic Aquatic Team, awarded Dr Fu an Honorary Professorship.
