Dr. Freddie H. Fu was the 54th Annual LeRoy C. Abbott Visiting Professor on May 7-8, 2009 at the University of California San Francisco at the invitation of Professor and Chairman, Dr. Thomas Parker Vail. The titles of Dr. Fu’s lectures were “50 Years of Cartilage Research in Pittsburgh” and “Update on ACL Reconstruction”. Dr. Abbott served as the first chief of orthopaedics at UCSF from 1930 to 1957, and those that trained under him formed the LeRoy C. Abbott Orthopaedic Society as a tribute to him and to assist in the growth and development of the discipline he loved and served so well. It is a tremendous honor to be invited as the Abbott Visiting Professor and is the highlight of UCSF's Academic Year. Dr. Fu joined other distinguished LeRoy C. Abbott Visiting Professors from our Department including Drs. Albert Ferguson, Henry Mankin, and James Herndon.Two graduates of our residency program, Drs. C. Benjamin Ma and Christina R. Allen, are currently members of the UCSF faculty. |
